Brian Ogenrwoth

Brian Ogenrwoth is an Agricultural and Applied Economist (MSc. Makerere University). He is a consultant in areas of Agricultural and Resource economics, socioeconomics, agribusiness, agroforestry and environmental management. He participated in the 2022 Erasmus student exchange program at Justus Liebig Universitat, Giessen-Germany (March-July). He won the best paper award at the Biennial Climate Smart Agriculture Conference 2022 in Accra by presenting a paper titled “Impact of climate change on food security in Uganda: A panel regression analysis”.

He pursued a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management (First Class Honours) from Makerere University. He holds a Diploma in Agroforestry (First class) from Nyabyeya Forestry college, Uganda.

Brian is a member of the Uganda Agricultural Economics Association (UAEA) where he serves as a Publicity Secretary. He also serves as a board secretary of Gen pacu Education initiative, a charity organization in WestNile and as well as Secretary executive committee and technical lead of Greater Nebbi Holdings, an agribusiness initiative in WestNile.

Brian is a teaching assistant at Makerere University, Department of Agribusiness and Natural Resource Economics (DANRE) and research associate with the African Network of Agricultural and Nutritional Diversity program and a research fellow with NORHEDII/Climsmart projects. His MSc.thesis focused on investigating the “Impact of Gender and Extension services on the Profitabiity of cassava prodcution”.

Brian is a passionate researcher with an interest in areas such as socioeconomics, production and consumer economics, agribusiness value chain analysis, environmental/ resource economics and nutrition/ food security, but with an open mind to emerging issues and recent developments in the agricultural sector.

Brain has worked with the rural farming communities in Uganda at various levels in the NGO world and public sector as an Agribusiness project officer, climate change project officer, Assistant District Forestry officer and Agricultural extension worker. He envisions a competitive, sustainable and profitable agriculture sector in Africa.
