Inspiring the next Generation: Careers’ Day 2025 at Gayaza High School

On 5th July. 2025, UAA joined hands with Nucafe Uganda, Tooke, and One Acre Agro Farm to participate in an inspiring Careers Day event at Gayaza High School, Kampala. Our mission was to plant seeds of purpose and possibility in the minds of the next generation of agripreneurs.

Together with our partner organizations, we facilitated a series of engaging sessions designed to introduce students to the diverse and exciting world of agribusiness. We aimed to break long-standing stereotypes about agriculture and demonstrate that agribusiness is a vibrant sector full of innovation, growth, and career potential.

Each company brought a unique perspective, helping the students see the many ways they could apply their skills and interests to solve real-world challenges in food systems, rural development, technology, and environmental sustainability.

AGRICULTURE CAREER PROFILE: Exploring Career Pathways in Agribusiness

One of the key highlights of the day was a deep dive into the different career categories within agribusiness, to help students understand that the agriculture sector goes far beyond farming. We discussed roles in the following agricultural pathways:

  • The Agricultural Business Pathway.
  • Agricultural Mechanics Pathway.
  • Animal Science Pathway.
  • Food science Pathway.
  • Plant Science Pathway.
  • Natural Resources Pathway.
  • Skilled Trades Pathway.
  • Environmental Services Pathway,
  • Sustainability Pathway.
  • Technology Pathway.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: What Careers’ Day Means for Young future Agripreneurs and the Agriculture sector.

Events like Careers Day are vital platforms to raise awareness, build confidence, and expose students to meaningful opportunities in sectors that will shape Africa’s future. By exposing young people to the wide spectrum of opportunities within agribusiness, we begin to shape mindsets, nurture confidence, and connect passion with purpose.

If we are to secure food systems, create jobs, and tackle climate challenges, then we must continue to engage with Learning Institutions and Students’ bodies meaningfully, and consistently. This is because the future of agriculture doesn’t begin on the farm, but rather, it begins in the classrooms, in meaningful conversations and bold ideas shared during moments like these.

We applaud and commend the Gayaza High School Leadership for prioritizing Agriculture.
