A New Hub for Women-Led Industrialization: Inside the Buikwe MMP Industrial Park Groundbreaking

On August 14, 2025, we joined the African Women in Processing Uganda Chapter (AWIP-U), the MMP Industrial Park, and partners in Buikwe District for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Buikwe MMP Women’s Industrial Park – a pioneering space dedicated to advancing women-led industrialization in Uganda. The event brought together women entrepreneurs, development partners, government leaders, and private sector champions to mark the start of an initiative that will change the industrial landscape for women in business.
This 2-acre facility will serve as a hub for women enterprises in:
- Agro-processing
- Textiles & Garments
- Light Metal Works
- Digital Skilling
With confirmed offtake commitments from MMP Industrial Park (textile & metal products) and COVEC Uganda (ground chili and chili oil from women farmers), the park’s model is demand-driven, ensuring that products find ready markets and enterprises remain sustainable.
As UAA, we were proud to participate in this milestone, reinforcing our commitment to advocating for an inclusive and market-oriented agribusiness Industry in Uganda.
